The successful applicant will be expected to operate across an alternating 6am – 2pm and 12pm – 8pm shift pattern.

You will be responsible for delivering an estimate vs actual performance of 100% across the print, finishing and despatch departments. Quality control will be high on your agenda as you will be responsible for containing a rework value at a level of less than 1% of turnover.

With an eye for continuous improvement you will maximise efficiencies and reduce waste, optimising existing or developing new procedures in order to achieve 100% on time in full delivery to all internal customers.

Experience of working in a fast moving, complex environment would be highly beneficial. The ability to oversee several (“projects”) live campaigns required at the same time and allocate time and man hour resources effectively is an essential skill required for this role as you will be required to operate with a labour spend of no more than 16% of turnover.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 year’s experience managing in a production environment and must be IOSH or NEBOSH certified.

Salary: £28,000.00 to £30,000.00 /year

We are a well-established player in the UK Point of Sale print market, supplying to well-known household brands and businesses. We are currently looking to employ a talented individual with a wide range of technical skills and a good working knowledge of Mac software and production workflows.

The position: Pre-press Operator

Job Mission:

You will be a focused and driven individual, excited by the challenge of meeting and exceeding predetermined targets.

Working under the Pre-press Manager in a small team and using cutting-edge automated systems, you will be part of an ongoing continuous improvement program and will be expected to contribute creatively to pre-press solutions. You will have excellent experience of using Adobe CS software in a busy production environment and have a keen eye for detail, a positive outlook and a willingness to own and solve problems.

With a main focus on the timely and accurate provision of print files to our digital and litho presses, you will be able to work across an early and late shift between the hours of 6am and 8pm with an on-call responsibility every 3rd Saturday. Salary in the region of £25-27k dependant on experience and skills.

You will be flexible and pro-active in ensuring duties are carried out ahead of tight deadlines and will form an essential part of a highly efficient team. You will be committed to learning and self-development as continual investment in system software in our pre-press department will lead to exciting learning opportunities in the future for the successful candidate.

Essential:

  • Min 2 years pre-press experience in a production environment
  • Proficient in Adobe CS
  • Highly organised
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Esko Automation Engine, Web centre and workflows
  • Previous experience of I-cut Pre-flight
