Here at Simpson Group, we are always looking to stay ahead of the curve and that means preparations start early for the years festivities! With Autumn right on the tip of our toes, obviously that means the first major event in our calendar is… HALLOWEEN! Now we’ll try to ‘creep’ it real and not inundate you too much with our wonderful puns in this blog post… but it is a time of year that we love, as it allows you to be as creative as possible with your Point Of Sale displays and marketing strategies. So let’s get started…

Choose Colour Wisely

It’s a well-known fact that colour is a key component of visual merchandising, and it has the power to influence consumer decisions and choices. While it is easy to be drawn straight to traditional Autumnal tones such as red, orange, yellow and green – due to them being colours that induce feelings of excitement, it is always a good idea to consider the psychology of colours when designing your Point Of Sale products, so that you know you are choosing wisely with success in mind. Green has the power to improve focus, Orange is a well-known mood-lifter and Yellow helps your brain remember information or an image at a higher rate.

Textures

Throughout Autumn you can really experiment with lending tones of multi-textured props to bring your display to life. Opting for wood, leaves and pumpkins, for example, are SCARILY easy to implement. All we advise is to not over ‘over bob the apple’ with it, remember that the service, promotion or product that you are trying to sell should play the leading role!

Window Display? Follow The Three Layer Rule

An effective yet rather simple way of giving your window display body and meaning, giving it the opportunity to be able to tell a story, is by utilising the famous Three Layer Rule. If you are not already aware, the Three Layer Rule simply consists of:

Layer One – The Actual Window
Layer Two – The Main Event – The products, service or promotion you are selling.
Layer Three – Your Background.

When it comes to your first layer, this is the first step to marketing your second layer, so it is important to make sure that you make a good impression on the overall image. You should think about how you can present the base of your display in its best light. For example, ensure that it is polished regularly, design your own unique Window Stickers with us at Simpson Group.

Keep Your Customers On Their Toes

If you are starting early with your Halloween displays, then it is important to bear in mind ways that you can keep your customers on their toes, and avoid them getting bored. This can involve altering or rotating the arrangement of your products every couple of weeks, or changing the colour scheme of your Window Stickers. It is something that can be easily done having planned it out strategically, in order to give yourself a head start from your competition on the high street.

Consider Eye Level Appeal

The best way to start designing your Point Of Sale display is to stand in front of it, and see where your eye is naturally drawn to. Wherever the point of eye contact is drawn, whether it be the centre, top right, or bottom left, then be sure to make this your main focal point for your display. If your eye is naturally drawn to this point, then chances are so will your customers, so utilising this factor can make all the difference in terms of generating interest leading to a sale.
